We have created a fun DVD of flying in Elings Park, the training hill where we teach paragliding in Santa Barbara. You can now view a web version of the first segment called Learning To Fly.
The first segment is a new video I just made of Victoria's first run with the Nova Philou glider, and her first flight from the top of our spectacular training hill! She gets into a thermal, and does three or four passes in front of the slope under radio guidance, touching down softly in the landing zone with a big PermaGrin on her face! Also in this first segment is experienced pilots flying at Elings Park (our training hill), catching thermals and climbing with the redtail hawks, some great flying at some nearby sand dunes, and finally a mountain launch in Aspen CO, with a view of a dozen gliders climbing together in a big thermal! There is a segment of features that have been done on television of flying at Elings Park. One of them stars my instructor, Ken deRussy, who taught hang gliding here for twenty years before beginning to teach paragliding. There is one about the first meeting of hang gliding instructors, introducing paragliding into the United States, and I am featured in another, teaching Debbie Davidson from KEYT to fly. Another short clip features students and myself flying here in Elings, talking about the value of open space. There is some footage of some rare flights from the back side of the park, facing the San Marcos Pass while the wind blew down the front of our regular slope. Total time: approx 30 min. Paragliding DVD: Learning to Fly! $10.00 Order Extra Bonus!Redeem this DVD for $20 off your First Day Lesson!I hope you enjoy these short videos! It was fun making them. -Chad Bastian |
