Hydraulic payout winch systems are the easiest, most trouble free and safest way to tow up to altitudes of over 4000 feet constantly tow after tow.

The wide spool friction systems are nice and work well but they do not adjust automatically. As line from the system gets longer, the drag on line increases - making it necessary to constantly adjust pressure up to keep same pressure at the pilot.

The Drag-N-Fly payout winch is a self regulating system because an increase in spool speed and pressure is bypassed to the tank when the pressure setting is exceeded. So when thermals and or wind speed makes the payout line speed to increase or decrease, the system automatically keeps towing pressure consistent and even for the pilot. The Tow Pilot will only experience an increase in pressure if control pressure by the Tow Tech is increased. This makes for a smooth, even towing operation.

By designing a unit with proper motor size, tank size, and lines in the system, the changes in pressure from surges are made to be as smooth as possible.

This Hydraulic Payout Winch System uses 5500 feet of spectra line, which is 7/64th diameter. The Spectra line is wound onto a water jet cut 25 inch diameter spool that, because of its design, as line length increases, drag on line the valve setting will stay the same. A modified control valve can relieve pressure very fast if needed. This winch incorporates a large capacity of oil, which prevents overheating and allows air trapped in the oil to escape before being compressed in the motor, causing detention and damage to motor.

Other compact winches for sale often have only a small reservoir which could cause premature motor failure and possible motor locking up during tow.

When you receive the Drag-N-Fly Hydraulic Payout Winch, all you have to do is just add hydraulic oil and gasoline to the rewind engine and you will be ready to tow. These units can be used in a boat or 2" trailer hitch receptacle on a truck or SUV, basically anything that is heavy enough to tow with. The winch can be used by both if desired, and is very easy to transfer between the two.

This winch has a 13 hp motor with a two-stage hydraulic pump that rewinds and pays in hydraulically.  The recent upgrades make this unit so easy to run you almost don't have to think and maintenance is simplified. Anyone can keep this system going. Not much to do but put oil and gas in motor and oil topped off for hydraulics.  No more clutches to grease or chains to adjust and oil.  You will love the simplicity of use.  And SMOOOTH tows!
