The Mini Vario was developed in 1991 to fill a specific need for high tech miniaturized soaring instrumentation (read more about vario technology here). It's designed to mount near the pilots ear and comes with a heavy duty clip that attaches to just about anything!
      The Mini Vario has only one volume setting which can be heard from 30 feet away inside a quiet room and the volume does not decrease as batteries age. It has a comforting lift only audio indication which is an increase in beeps as well as an increase in tone. The ON/OFF switch is usually accessible during flight depending on how the unit is attached. Battery replacement is very easy and batteries can be found at any electronics, camera, hardware or department store.
