The
Kari Castle Classic
US Paragliding National Championships, 2002
Running concurrently with the Nationals will be the Kari Castle Classic.
Intended to assist advanced pilots new to competition, the Classic is
comprised of teams of four pilots with a minimum of one "rookie"
pilot (no prior National Championship entry).
The Classic is an option for every pilot
without extra cost created to foster teamwork amongst the competitors.
Each team of four must register in advance, and awards will be awarded
to the first, second and third place winning teams.
In order to further encourage mixed teams, the points in this event will be doubled for the two lowest scoring rookie pilots on each team. Maximum efficiency in this event will be achieved with a team of two rookie pilots (points doubled) and two seasoned competitors that truly help their team mates to do well.
We encourage teams to use a radio frequency
amongst themselves other than the Meet Frequency to discuss and strategize
their X-C flying. One or more of the team members can also monitor the
Meet Frequency to be able to give important meet information to the
team.
Pilots will be asked to register the teams
before the first day of competition, and a team name may be used.
