The 100 mile long and 20 mile
wide valley has a history of providing the conditions
for altitude gain and open distance with many
world records being achieved by sail planes,
hang gliders and paragliders.
Join the best
paraglider pilots in the world for a week of
X-C flying in the big air of the Owens Valley!

Kari Castle Classic
Running
concurrently with the Nationals will be the Kari
Castle Classic. Intended to assist newer advanced
pilots new to competition, the Classic is comprised
of teams of four pilots with a minimum of one "rookie"
pilot (no prior National Championship entry).

in the Owens Valley
The
stories of flying hang gliders in the area were
intense and intimidating to a new paraglider pilot,
but upon talking with Kari, I was assured that
the fall conditions are far more appropriate for

Castle
Hi, my name is Kari Castle. I have been living
and flying in the Owens Valley for nine years.
It is one of the most famous and historic flying
sites in the world. The flying can be categorized
as "EXTREME" and is known for its "Big
Air", world record flights and of course:

Above All, Inc.
Fly Above All, Inc. instructors Chad Bastian and
Lee Anne Norris will be organizing the event this
year. Their school, started by Ken deRussy in
1973 for hang gliding and later paragliding, teaches
foot-launched flight on the best training hill
